of the Year
Charles
Smith, owner and winemaker of K Vintners, Charles Smith Wines, Secco Italian
Bubbles, and SIXTO has received the 2014 Wine Star Award for “Winemaker of the
Year” from Wine Enthusiast, joining past winners including legendary
winemakers Michel Rolland, Alvaro Palacios, and Olivier Humbrecht. Charles is
the first to receive this award, not only in Washington State, but in the
Pacific Northwest, and is the only person to have been named “Winemaker of the
Year” by both Food & Wine (2009)
and Wine Enthusiast. Charles’ wines have received a total of 66
scores of 95 points and above, and over 300 scores of 90 points above, from the
leading wine publications including Wine Enthusiast, Wine Advocate, Wine
Spectator, etc.
